The annual BBQ is fast approaching.  For the music we are pleased to welcome back our friend Richard Ansell and Blues Abuse.  We are also pleased to welcome Salvation Jayne – a band that describes themselves as “four musicians with a passion for blues and roots with integrity”. (See their website http://salvationjayne.com).

Food on the BBQ will be top quality sausages and burger supplied by the Sandwich Sausage company (sandwichsausage.co.uk), plus quality vegetarian sausages.

The bar will be serving real ales and local cider, plus the famous Brook BBQ Pimms along with wines and soft drinks.

We look forward to seeing you there.

The spring jumble sale raised £430 for hall funds, and this was followed by a magnificent £800 raised at the May quiz night.  The hall committee wants to thank everyone who supported these events and who contributed in any way.

Building work has started on the much anticipated hall extension.  The footings have been completed and repairs made to the existing access ramp outside the hall, with work expected to be completed by July.

This year’s show takes place at the village hall on Saturday 5th September.  Classes include vegetables, fruit, flowers, baking, handicraft and photography, and entry forms are available now from Mike Holland (01233 812279) and Josie Preston (01233 811570)

We have reached our capacity of 12 teams for the quiz at the village hall on 9th May.  The bar opens at 7.00 and the quiz starts promptly at 7.30.

Our application for funding from the KCC Village and Community Halls Grant Scheme was successful.  Along with grant funding from Ashford Borough Council and our two Borough Councillors, and donations from Brook Parish Council and the Brook Theatre Group, this means  we can now proceed with the building of the hall extension.

We hope that the builder will be able to commence work in the next few weeks so that the extension is completed in time for the village BBQ on 4th July.

Fibre optic has made it to Brook at last, and with it a new website for the Village Hall… It’s time to get online!
